Space And Place
A class offered by Alfred University Sculpture/Dimensional Studies Division professor Brett Hunter. Through a partnership with the city of Hornell, bringing Alfred university students for a residency in the Community Arts center for a semester, conducting research, creating exhibitions and events in the Arts center and culminating in the Hornell Art Walk with site-specific projects throughout the town. This experience builds a connection between the often-isolated populations of students and residents, creating shared experience and providing a forum for discussion and connection. Confronting the students with the question of the role their work plays in a given context and how it communicates with the people who constitute a place.
