Rest and Motion
2008, wood and fabric bench, video projection
This piece juxtaposes the experience of travel with a collection of locational perspectives. The video component of this work stems from two collections of video clips, one of the views out the car window and the other of my feet while walking. The bench as a symbol of stasis/ rest represents locations where I have recently resided, the stitching on top of each cushion specific to the topography of that location and the height reflective of its relative elevation.
